Goals

South Yard Marina at Ferry Point is one of Old Saybrook’s newest marinas offers our customers more than just a slip. We are a community of diverse boaters experiencing a wonderful summer experience. Those looking to go fishing early morning, those looking to relax with their families on a weekend–afternoon, you will find like-minded individuals at South Yard Marina at Ferry Point.

The Shore Line Electric Railway Co. Powerhouse, known locally as the Smoke Stack.

Shoreline History

The Shore Line Electric Railway Co. Powerhouse located in the South Yard Marina at Ferry point in Old Saybrook, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The powerhouse, which overlooks the marina, is made entirely of reinforced concrete topped with a large red and white smokestack making it an iconic landmark at the mouth of the Connecticut River. After its trolley days the building was used as a warehouse by bootleggers during prohibition. For a concrete structure it is quite elaborate.

Services

Hauling services are performed with our 35-ton travel lift, the admiral 15-Ton Fork lift and our cat forklift can adequately handle the workload. Our rack program allow you to call ahead when you plan to use your boat and we will have it in the water ready for you when you arrive. Our slips provide water and electric to meet the needs of our boaters. Our services include power washing, winter storage, shrink wrapping, and bottom painting.
